Automotive Quality Standards (Certificate) The competitive global environment in which the automotive industries operate today requires an increased emphasis on and commitment to quality. To assist in meeting this market challenge, the College of Continuing Studies at The University of Alabama has developed the Automotive Quality Standards Certificate Program. The comprehensive curriculum of this program is designed for automotive manufacturing and quality professionals who have responsibility for quality assurance and improving production in the workplace.
The "Big Three Automotive Manufacturers" (Ford, Chrysler, and General Motors) decided that there would be considerable benefit in creating a common standard for their combined supply chain. The result was the "ISO9000 Quality Systems" requirements. An International Technical Specification (TS) was created in 2002 by leading automotive manufacturers in France, England, Germany, Japan, and the United States. The result was the TS/16949:2002 Quality Systems requirements. The curriculum of The University of Alabamas Automotive Quality Standards Certificate Pogram covers all of these Quality Standards.
