Belly Dancing Basics

Dance away the calories with the undulating isolations and dynamic hip accents of belly dancing! Tone and strengthen your body with arm gestures, torso undulations, hip movements and floor work. Learn graceful veil movements, play finger cymbals and create your own dances with what you’ve learned. Course material challenges both beginning students and more advanced dancers. An optional, fun beginning level performance opportunity will be offered toward the end of the course.

BELLY DANCING

This course is structured around Keti Sharif’s A-Z Original Bellydancing routines. A new choreography is taught each term utlilising a number of the more simple routines. Classes are structured so that the students learn all the techniques required before commencing on the choreography. The introduction class is more of a focus on basic technique, however, there is enough variety each term to accommodate returning students. Weekly lesson follow the following format. Introduction, Focus on posture, Warm up, stretch, technique, choreography, cool down and stretch. Students are provided with handouts of the routines along with a choreography. Gain increased health benefits in flexibility, suppleness, muscle tone and all over strength. Stress release, increased confidence, body image, posture and grace are also benefits of doing Bellydancing.
