C# for the PowerBuilder Developer With the introduction of PowerBuilder 11.0, there are many reasons why a PowerBuilder Developer needs to understand the C# language. Designed to help PowerBuilder developers bridge the gap between PowerBuilder and C#, this class will satisfy requirements for the developer who is new to C# and needs to port and/or create robust PowerBuilder/.NET applications.
Did you know that PowerBuilder is now capable of generating .NET WinForms, WebForms and Web Services easily by converting PowerScript source code to C#? However, you do not convert the code, PowerBuilder does. You do not have access to the C# code, but there are restrictions and limitations in the conversion. And, in order to understand these limitations, you must understand the C# language. Did you also know that you can consume .NET assemblies as well as make calls to .NET classes from your PowerBuilder/.NET applications? But again - in order for you to fully understand this new feature, your understanding of C# code is very critical. We strongly encourage any PowerBuidler developer to attend this class so as to save him/her many hours of trial and error. Course Objectives : Upon completion of this course, you will be able to: Understand C# syntax Develop C# code Take advantage of the .NET Framework Class Library Use .NET Framework classes to perform tasks like reading and writing to files, communicating across a network, etc. Build C# constructs like: Classes, Abstract Classes, Interfaces, Structs, Exceptions and Namespaces. Use the .NET Data Types and Operators Understand and use constructors, including overloading constructors, fields (Instance variables), Properties (getters/setters in the .NET world), static class members, arrays and Collection Classes Perform Inheritance Create methods, including overriding and overloading
