This qualification is for those wishing to make a career out of playing sport or being involved in a sports facilitated career. It is considered entry level and facilitates the development of the following knowledge and skills at regional/state and territory level:

Training for events under the guidance of coaches to improve fitness, skills and mental preparation
Assessing other competitors and conditions at venues
Deciding on strategies in consultation with coaches
Playing in competitions
Undertaking promotional and media duties
Running junior coaching clinics
Arranging financial sponsorship or contracts
For this qualification you are required to complete five (5) core units of competency, fourteen (14) Stream units of competency, three (3) Golf specific elective units and seven (7) non-golf specific electives, making a total of 29 units of competency.

Students are required to undertake a maximum of 115 hours practical work experience as part of this course. This work experience is arranged through One Step Further Pty Ltd. We will be happy to sit and discuss these options with you prior to you enrolling in your course.

Certificate II in Sport and Recreation

This course is designed for school leavers, VET in Schools program, people
working or wanting to work in the Sport and Recreation industry. You will gain
skills required to work with individuals or groups in the Sport and Recreation field.
You may be required to undertake some physical activity and exercise
component. Participation in work based teams including group or team
coordination may be involved.
Likely functions within the sport and recreation industry for those who have this
level of competency include working with clients (eg, sporting participants),
working within clearly defined contexts (eg, Sport Officiators) conducting
activities on sport programs and performing other associated tasks, acting
according to clearly defined Standard Operating Procedures and the
organisation’s documented guidelines. Persons with this level of competency
may work autonomously in clearly defined tasks or as an assistant with a more
experienced person in potentially non–routine or more complex activities and
sporting and recreation programs.

The Certificate provides competency based training for students wishing to follow
vocational pathways in sport, fitness and recreation.

Work placement
There is a requirement for a work placement in a sport or recreation industry
environment to complete the Certificate.
The worker will normally be engaged in a workplace in which they:
�Will need to complete up to 13 work books as student assessment
tasks and handed to the Instructor for assessment
�demonstrate basic operational knowledge in a moderate range of
areas;
�apply a defined range of skills;
�apply known solutions to a limited range of predictable problems;
�perform a range of tasks where choice between a limited range of
options is required;
�assess and record information from varied sources; and
�take limited responsibility for own outputs in work and learning
