Certificate IV in Fitness-Personal/Children Trainer The Personal/Children Trainer part-time course is designed to provide you with the knowledge and skills required to work in the Fitness industry as a Personal Trainer and/or as a Children Trainer responsible for conducting physical activity programs fro children.
Stream subject topics include: �Utilise a broad knowledge of exercise science in exercise planning, programming and instruction �Undertake postural appraisal of low-risk clients �Utilise a broad range of fitness equipment �Undertake relevant exercise planning and programming �Provide exercise for fitness industry clients with special requirements �Utilise an understanding of motivational psychology with fitness clients �Provide information and exercise related to nutrition and body composition
You may also choose to enrol in the optional Elective �Physical Rehabilitation, to further enhance your portfolio of skills.
After successfully completing this program you will receive a nationally-recognised Statement of Attainment. Completion of a program of Core subjects, either through a Recognition of Prior Learning process or other study mode, will make you eligible to receive a Certificate IV in Fitness. Certificate IV in FitnessLikely functions within the fitness industry for those who have this level of competency include working independently at a broad range of venues with a variety of different client groups. Persons with this level of competency have the ability to plan, conduct and evaluate activities of self and others. Persons with this level of competency have the ability to deal with unpredictable and non–routine situations. Those who complete the Certificate IV in Fitness will develop the following knowledge and skills: plan and program exercise for fitness industry clients; utilise a broad knowledge of exercise science principles in fitness training; undertake basic postural appraisals to evaluate clients posture, functional range of movement and muscle strength and weakness in preparation for the development of an exercise program; use, maintain and demonstrate the use of a broad range of fitness equipment; provide exercise for low risk clients with common medical, injury or health conditions, after referral from and under the supervision of medical and health professionals and as part of a team of health and medical professionals; analyse client behaviours and recommend strategies for exercise adherence; provide basic information about healthy eating and design exercise plans and programs to reduce the level of body fat in clients; and, plan and deliver exercise for different client groups (such as those with disabilities or a specific fitness activity interest), different environments A Classroom course provided by Life Balance Lifestyle & Fitness Centre in Darwin, NT, Australia
Certificate IV in FitnessThis qualification will provide a wide range of practical skills and knowledge to plan and conduct fitness programs over a range of contexts including: one on one, unpredictable environments, and providing exercise for low risk clients with common medical conditions. As part of this qualification you will investigate pathways to work with allied health professionals, undertake basic postural appraisals, utilise a broad range of fitness equipment and analyse client behaviours and strategies to increase exercise adherence. This qualification will provide the necessary skills knowledge and expertise required to work with specific client groups, including older adults, children and adolescents.
Fitness is a serious business, and this qualification will give you in-depth knowledge and skills. Learning areas include working with Allied Health professionals, postural appraisals, use of fitness equipment, analysis of client behaviours and how to devise effective exercise plans and working with specific client groups.
Swan TAFE is the only TAFEWA college in the south-eastern suburbs of the Perth metropolitan area that offers this qualification. The Fitness classes are conducted at Swan TAFEs Thornlie Campus. You will have access to a fully equipped gym and exercise equipment to train on. You will learn the correct techniques to use this equipment, and to provide accurate fitness evaluations. This qualification will expand on the skills gained in the Certificate III and enable graduates to work as personal trainers or work with specialist population groups. - Career Opportunities Successful completion of this qualification provides you with the opportunity to become a registered fitness trainer (as a Personal Trainer, Older Adults, Children and adolescents and / or Aqua Trainer)
Graduates of this qualification will be registered as fitness instructors with Fitness Australia and may work as personal trainers and/or with specialised population groups.
