Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) (Certificate) International students study towards CIMA examinations normally for two years full-time with Leicester Business School. We offer tuition for the managerial and strategic level papers, but we do not offer the Foundation Stage examinations at Leicester Business School so you would need to have studied the Foundation Stage examinations elsewhere (in the UK or in your home country) or have been exempted from the Foundation Stage papers by CIMA at the registration stage. Year one (Managerial Level)
In year one, you sit three papers in November and three papers in May:
Paper 1: Performance Evaluation Paper 2: Decision Making Paper 4: Organisational Management and Information Systems Paper 5: Integrated Management Paper 7: Financial Accounting and Tax Principles Paper 8: Financial Analysis. Plus a range of additional professional accounting classes.
Year two (Strategic Level)
Paper 3: Risk and Control Strategy Paper 6: Business Strategy Paper 9: Financial Strategy. Plus a range of additional professional accounting classes.
Teaching/assessment
Teaching commences in mid-September and runs every week up until exams in May, except for vacations at Christmas and New Year (December/January) and Easter (March/April). Formal syllabus tuition is finished by the end of April, but exam preparation classes continue until the examinations. A precise programme for each paper will be issued by the lecturers in the first week of tuition in September.
You will also attend regular tutorials with the Course Leader in both years.

Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) accreditationThe qualification is ideal for people who wish to qualify as an accountant whilst working in industry or commerce or the public sector.
To qualify as an Associate member of the institute, a person must have passed the examinations and have three years relevant practical experience.
MMUBS offers tuition on a part time day release and/or evening basis for CIMA examinations for people intending to sit the May 2007 examinations. Certificate level courses are offered on a modular basis to allow students to attempt examinations throughout the year.
It is possible for each of the levels, Certificate, Managerial and Strategic to be studied on one day or one afternoon, plus the evening of that day or on two or three evenings.

Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA)This programme is intended for students who wish to study for the examinations of the CIMA whilst continuing to be employed in a job that provides experience in management accountancy.

Exemptions Some students may be granted exemption from some of the examinations. Graduates may be exempted, as may students who have passed AAT, a full-time Foundation Course in Accountancy, and holders of HND and HNC in Business Studies.
