Chemical Dependency and Communicable Diseases Workshop Meets the qualifications for 7 hours of continuing education credit for MFTs and/or LCSWs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. UCLA Extension is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing (provider BRN #CEP 11952) to offer this activity for 7 contact hours. Through lectures and workshop activities, this program explores clinical aspects and current trends in the prevention and treatment of such diseases as tuberculosis, hepatitis B and C, and HIV. Topics include current issues in epidemiology, psychosocial issues and strategies to help clients, treatment planning for the whole person--not just the disease, culturally competent intervention, and special counseling needs of HIV and other critically ill patients.
