The course introduces you to the new Cisco Systems Carrier Routing System (CRS-1). The platform options, features, and functionality are detailed. The modules are both theoretical and practical in scope. Although some of the modules focus on the technology and features of the platform, most of the modules deal specifically with the tasks associated with configuring and deploying the CRS-1. Hands-on lab exercises allow you to practice and use the knowledge and skills gained during this course to perform measurable tasks.
After completing this course, the student should be able to:

List and describe the major features and benefits of a Cisco CRS-1
List and describe the major features and benefits of the Cisco IOS XR Software operating system
Configure the CRS-1 platform, back out of configuration changes, and restore older versions of a configuration
Install the Cisco IOS XR Software operating system, package information envelopes (PIEs), and software maintenance updates (SMUs)
Configure the new Cisco IOS XR Software security features
Configure routing protocols in a complex multiautonomous system environment (with a focus on Cisco IOS Software differences)
Enable multicast routing on Cisco IOS XR Software platforms (with a focus on Cisco IOS Software differences)
Configure Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) on Cisco IOS XR Software
Configure route map configurations using the new Cisco IOS XR Software Routing Protocol Language (RPL)
Use the Craft Works Interface (CWI) to configure, view, check configurations, and obtain alarm status of CRS-1 nodes
Understand data flow through the CRS-1
Troubleshoot basic CRS-1 hardware and software problems
