CompTIA Linux+/LPI Level One (Certificate)

This nationally recognized CompTIA Linux+ online training course and certification program was developed by CompTIA. The course measures vendor-neutral Linux knowledge and skills for an individual with at least six months practical experience (Network+ or A+ background). This online Linux+ Certification Training Preparation course will prepare students to write the CompTIA Linux+ exam. The LPI Certification has been developed by the Linux Professional Institute (LPI), a non-profit organization. This Professional Linux Certification is designed to provide a usable, common measurement of Linux skills when considering people for hire, contracting or other roles. The Linux Professional Institute LPIC is an industry recognized certification. The Linux Professional Institute believes in the need for a standardized, multi-national, and respected program to certify levels of individual expertise in Linux. This program must be able to satisfy the requirements of Linux professionals, as well as organizations, which would employ or contract such professionals. The goal is to design and deliver such a program from within the Linux community, using both volunteer and hired resources as necessary. The LPI resolve to undertake a well-considered, open, disciplined development process, leading directly to the establishment of a recognized and widely-endorsed Linux certification body.

Requirement for LPI Certification
LPI Certification candidates are required to pass two exams, the 101 exam and the 102 exam, covering fundamental system administration activities that are common across all flavors of Linux.

Admission Requirements
Grade 12 or equivalent or Mature Student Status and must achieve a grade of 75% or better on our entrance exam.

Career Opportunities
The LPI Certification is appropriate for individuals pursuing a career in information technology with experience related to the Linux Operating System. Individuals maybe required to perform the following tasks:

Working at the UNIX command line;
Performing easy maintenance tasks: help users, add users to a larger system, back up and restore, shut down and reboot;
Installing and configuring a workstation (including X) and connecting it to the LAN, or a stand-alone PC via modem to the Internet.

Linux Installation and Package Management;
Manage kernel modules, reconfigure, build and install a custom kernel and modules;
Text editing, processing and printing;
Customize and use the shell environment;
Customize or write simple scripts;
Perform security admin tasks.
