Students undertaking this program of study will learn to design and develop interactive content for a range of platforms including the internet, mobile phones, CD-Rom, DVD and touch-screen.

Key features of the course include multimedia development, graphic design, interface design, and interaction design for the internet and broadcast media. Scriptwriting, storyboarding, 2D and 3D animation, video and sound editing, development and programming also form part of the course.

The program offers elective units in graphic design and techniques for pre-press and print production for students wishing to specialise in print-based media. The Bachelor of Creative Media (with a Major in Graphic Design) is also available at the Brisbane campus.

An essential tool for gaining employment on graduation is a comprehensive portfolio of work demonstrating the candidate’s practical and creative skills. To this end, there is a focus throughout the course on portfolio development. In addition, students also have the opportunity to enter a 13 week internship program during their second year of study, where they will receive practical work experience and industry contacts.

Similar to ever other course offered by Qantm, students also undertake units essential to understanding the commercial environment of this competitive field. These include communications design, project management, business and copyright law. These essential insights are provided with a view to our graduates’ career progression to operational, development and managerial positions.

Creative Media Make-Up

Learners are expected to have GCSE English and grade D or above, GCSE Art is preferred but not compulsory. All candidates must be operating at literacy level 2 or above. You will need to be an excellent communicator when working with people from all backgrounds and age groups relevant to the media industry. It is desirable but not essential to have a degree of artistic skill and flair, a high degree of physical stamina and be able to use your hands to be creative. Your personality should be vibrant, sparkling and interesting and you need to be able to keep a level head in work based situations. Prior experience maybe considered for students aged 19 +.

Course Details
Learners will attend college 3 days per week. If you are aged 16 to 18 your programme will include tutorials, enrichment activities and the development of key skills. You will be expected to attend all these sessions as part of the programme. Creative Media Make-up comprises of a range of Certificates and Diplomas, to qualify for the full award you will be expected to achieve a range of external exams and internal tests and provide evidence within a range of portfolio formats.

Assessment
Assessment is carried out by observation of practical skills, written/oral questioning, assignments and compulsory external exams. Completions of these assignments form a range of portfolio evidence in a broad variety of subject areas. Work experience is an essential requirement to meet qualification requirements.

VTCT Certificate in Cosmetic Make-up Level 2. VTCT Certificate in Fashion Photographic Level 2. VTCT Diploma in Health, Hygiene and Working Standards Level 3. NCFE Photography Level 1. NCFE Creative Craft Hairdressing Level 2. NCFE Enterprise Award Level 2. City and Guilds Wig Making Level 2.

Progression
You may progress to Theatrical Media Make-up Level 3 or Hairdressing Level 3.
