Cross Country Skiing Cross-country or nordic skiing is a way of travelling in alpine environments that allows groups to travel to unique places in a spectacular environment. Narrower than downhill skis and with a free heel, nordic skis are made for travelling up as well as down hills.

Cross Country SkiingStudents are instructed in the basics of cross country skiing which will enable them to use these skills to explore different aspects and areas of the alpine environment. The VCE extension to this activity is a two day ski tour with one overnight snow campout. A Else course provided by Bogong Outdoor Education Centre in Bogong, Vic, Australia
Cross Country SkiingThis course is designed to take both the never been skier as well as those who are having problems with fundamental techniques to a level of ability that allows safe and comfortable travel through backcountry terrain. Techniques to be developed will include the kick and glide, wedge and wedge turn, stem Christi, parallel and telemark turns, hill climbing and trail strategies. Classroom sessions will consider ski equipment and clothing selections. basic orienteering and terrain evaluation, as well as slide presentation and lecture demonstrating the above techniques. Students must be in average physical condition to meet the rigorous demands of this class. Tuition does not include ski equipment rental. Ski sessions begin in the morning. Bring a sack lunch.
