There is much emphasis these days on the care of people with dementia. Yet many people do not understand what dementia is and how it can affect those diagnosed with it. Dementia can be managed to enable people to have the best quality of life and the first step in the process of managing dementia is to understand the condition. This course aims to enable and empower delegates with the knowledge and skills to manage dementia in a care setting. The emphasis is on practical skills and techniques which actually work in a care setting, backed up with good practice and theory.

The aim of this three day training course is to introduce the person centered approach to dementia to care workers working or who may work for the first time with people with dementia. The overriding objective is to encourage and enable staff to apply this approach to their day to day care practice.

This one day course is aimed at all care and support staff who may work with people who have dementia. It teaches an understanding of what dementia means and ways to deliver good care practices, and most importantly build on the quality of care provided to people with dementia. It promotes different ways of caring and working with people who have dementia.
