Graduate Certificate Gerontological Nursing

This certificate course provides the opportunity for registered nurses to expand their knowledge about the specific needs of an ageing population in the acute care as well as the long term care setting. The course will prepare nurses to work effectively in the dynamic and changing environment of aged care in the 21st century. On completion, it is expected that the student will be able to practise in a variety of settings in aged care using appropriate knowledge and skills to maximise wellness and functional capacity in older persons. The course encourages a holistic approach to the study of aged care using a philosophy of empowerment of older persons.
