Graphic Design and Photography Workshop Specific pathway projects are designed to give you a comprehensive foundation of creative and professional skills and develop your technical, visual and academic skills. You are encouraged to develop skills in
visual problem-solving through research and experimentation.
In year one the course allows you to learn all the basic skills needed to begin to think, visualise and communicate ideas creatively. Modules include digital and traditional photography, concepts of visual language,
typography, image concepts and contextual studies.
In year two you will undertake more advanced photographic studies and begin to specialise in a design area that develops individual strengths. Negotiated projects give you responsibility for your own creative direction and prepare you for final year study.
In year three you have the opportunity to produce work for a commercial client and enter national design awards including D&AD, ISTD and the RSA Student Design Award. You are expected to take responsibility for realising personal design projects to build a unique portfolio in preparation for the launch of your career.
Teaching/assessment
Teaching is through formal lectures, group seminars, workshops and tutorials. Industry-standard Macintosh computer facilities are used for teaching and self-directed study. Assessment is continuous throughout the year and based on individual and group projects.
