Holistic End of Life Care This course focuses on the physical and emotional needs of the patient and family at the end of life. Using an ethical decision-making framework, students explore ethical issues that may arise, such as trans-cultural and spiritual issues, practice issues related to life-support technology and patient self-determination. The course addresses culturally competent care in the context of belief systems and values of the patient and family. Hospice care and the role of the hospice nurse are integrated into the study of care of the dying and the grieving family.
