The Hospitality and Catering Studies Courses are flexible courses. Excellent career links are available with both local and national industry.

The College is a member of the South Yorkshire Hospitality and Catering Centre of Vocational Excellence (CoVE).

A National Vocational Qualification can be gained which allows employees to demonstrate their competence in the work place. Candidates are assessed unobtrusively whilst engaged in workplace activities.

Various funding can be accessed by Doncaster College on your behalf through Government initiatives, meaning nil or minimum fees only apply.

Hospitality and Catering

This course is for people who want to develop basic skills in catering, whilst improving their literacy and numeracy skills at the same time. Students work in a realistic working environment, providing food for the college catering outlets. The students have the opportunity to complete Entry Level 3 Hospitality and Catering.
Progression
On successful completion of the course, students could progress onto NVQ1 Food Preparation and Cooking within the college.
Course Content
Units include:- Health and Safety, Information Technology, Introduction to skills for work, Introduction to food hygiene and safe practice, Developing food preparation and cooking skills, Working together. Basic Skills - Literacy and Numeracy.
Teaching Strategies
Students will be developing their practical skills in the kitchen producing food for college catering outlets. To successfully complete the course the students will have to undertake theory sessions to complete the theoretical side of the programme. Basic skills are embedded within the sessions. All students will receive tutorial support throughout the year.
