ITEC Level 3 Sports Massage (Diploma) The ITEC Level 3 Sports Massage Diploma at HEATHERWOOD ACADEMY provides an excellent opportunity for anybody wishing to further their knowledge in this area. The course covers a wide variety of sports injuries and will leave any therapist with the confidence to diagnose and treat many common ailments.In addition to helping improve an athlete’s performance through pre and post event massage.
The treatment techniques covered are not just limited to sports injuries, but can be applied to injuries sustained or associated with everyday life .Such as R.S.I this injury is becoming more common within the treatment room.
We provide a unique learning experience within a classroom environment There are small study groups (maximum 10 per group)and we have a friendly and supportive approach to your development as a therapist.
COURSE CONTENT
Listed below are some of the topics covered on the course:
�Regional Anatomy - study of constituent parts of a given body region.
�Applied Anatomy - study of how the body parts function individually and in relation to other body regions.
�Origin, Insertion and Action of over 50 muscles.
�Regional Injuries - study of common injuries to muscle, tendon, ligament, bursa and bone
�Assessment of injuries to soft tissue �using recognised orthopedic techniques.
�Treatment - this will build on prior massage technique.
�Advanced massage techniques including:
o soft tissue release
o muscle energy technique
o lymphatic drainage etc.
�Use of ice (Cryotherapy) in acute injuries - its rationale and method of application.
�An introduction to different types of remedial exercises and stretching routines.
�Pre, post and maintenance sports massage routines.
�Basic strapping techniques for sports injuries.
