This course is a continuation of the introductory course, covering the more complex aspects of the Illustrator program. This course is delivered on the Macintosh platform. However PC users will not find this an obstacle as the commands are very similar.

You will learn to customize your work environment to increase your productivity. You’ll master advanced Illustration skills including the use of perspective grids, the gradient mesh tool, advanced brushes,appearances,and styles, and advanced selection skills. If you are planning on testing for Adobe Certified Expert status, this course is an ideal way to prepare.

Audience: Graphic professionals wishing to gain complete command of this complex vector illustration tool.

Prerequisites: Students should have mastery basic computer operation skills including using a mouse, opening, saving, and finding files, and opening and closing computer programs. If a student is unable to keep up with the material in class, they may need to observe the lessons in order not to slow down the rest of the class. We are able to provide one-on-one consulting services and tutoring to support students in that situation.

GENERAL KNOWLEDGE
Major features of Adobe Illustrator
Difference between vector graphic and raster (bitmap) images
Native file formats in Adobe Illustrator
Criteria used when you would output an Illustrator document to various file formats, such as SWF, PSD, JPEG, GIF, PDF, SVG
Basic color modes used in Adobe Illustrator, such as HSB, RGB, CMYK
Managing files by using WebDAV
LAYING OUT A DOCUMENT
Different components of the work area, such as imageable area, nonimageable area, edge of page, artboard, scratch area
Appropriate document settings for the artboard

WORKING WITH SHAPES & OBJECTS
