Independent Music Production With the current advances in music technology, songwriters, musicians, and composers interested in creating professional sounding recordings can do so from an affordable set-up in their own home studio. This seminar presents an introduction to the processes involved in independent music production. The first part is devoted to analyzing the development and evolution of music production over the past four decades through the work and techniques of the most talented producers. Participants also are introduced to critical listening techniques. During the second part, the instructor and guest lecturers discuss the interrelations between the various components involved in producing music, including music business, audio fundamentals, songwriting, and production, as well as business issues facing the independent producer. Participants come away with an understanding of the various music production styles and issues involved in producing music from their home studios.
