CAIA - Charterred Alternative Investments AnalystCAIA in itself is a designation which confers on its, holders a unique badge of mastery in the field of alternative investments. The current recession has given way to critics of CAIA to blame derivatives and its allies for the crash, but if there is any way to make the market more liquid and varied then one can,t help but appreciate the role which derivatives have played. Added to this is the growing advent of hedge funds in the Indian market. These institutions need a workforce which has a strong knowledge of alternative investments which unfortunately is not focussed in the current MBA and other finance programs in India. Hence there is this void that needs to be filled and CAIA best suits these future needs. I am myself a CAIA whose interests are in academics. I am currently pursuing my M.Phil and also working in a MBA college as faculty in Finance.
