Marine and Supply Base Operations for Offshore Support This oil and gas training course is designed to provide shore-based staff who are new to the off-shore support environment with a broad understanding of: �The operation, handling and characteristics of supply boats, tugs and similar vessels �Supply vessel load planning, cargo handling and loading bulk and deck cargo �The role and management of the supply base in support of offshore exploration and production operations �Health, Safety and Environmental issues, including regulatory frameworks impacting on safe and effective marine transport and supply base operations.
The course is intended for staff and operators new to offshore support operations, such as transport and materials management staff, logistics planning staff, offshore materials coordinators, secretarial staff and similar groups. It is also suitable for more experienced staff who would benefit from a broader understanding of how a Supply Base works. Objectives: By the end of the course, participants will:
Understand the role, characteristics, operational and environmental considerations of marine transport and oil and gas supply base operations activities Be aware of the need for safe handling, loading, stowage and offloading of different cargoes Be able to initiate appropriate, prompt and informed action in the event of emergencies Be able to identify opportunities for improvements in marine and supply base operations and in safety Be able to demonstrate an understanding of ship handling and operations Understand ship and container construction Be familiar with generic HSE and environmental operating norms as well as with the particular regimes they may operate in Understand the operation of International Trade.
