Master of Communication (Advertising) The Master of Communication (Advertising) program provides an in-depth exploration of the range of advertising knowledge from academic and professional sources around the world. It is focused on high-powered advertising strategy, and the processes that lead to it.
The Graduate Diploma program offers a preparation for managing complex advertising campaigns, integrated with other promotional activities such as commercial sponsorship, sales promotion, brand public relations and direct response. Branding theory is central. Account management, account (or strategy) planning, media planning and agency management are the specific professional areas covered. (While all students study Creativity in Advertising, this program is not designed for those who plan to be advertising copywriters or art directors.) Master students will also explore wider issues involved in managing organisations which produce such campaigns.
Graduates will be able to:
conduct and/or use research, with critical insight into its validity for decision-making develop and/or build theories, and understand the process of theory development implement changed personal and organisational behaviours in the knowledge of new or changed theories create the conditions for more effective and efficient structures within advertising respond effectively to changing societal demands on advertising gain mastery of the writing in their field of knowledge and be able to communicate about advertising knowledge so as to influence their peers in business gain the confidence of their advertising clients.
