Master of Human Resource Management

Whether you’re a current HR practitioner looking to enhance your skills and knowledge, or you have little or or no background in the discipline, you’ll work on industrial relations landscape, human behavioural patterns and organisational structures, developing your communication and behaviour management skills.

You’ll learn about new approaches and theories to ensuring organisations function as efficiently as possible. Through this method of teaching, you will get to simulate situations and scenarios experienced by human resource departments in the contemporary global marketplace.

Master of Human Resource Management

The MHRM is a professionally-oriented coursework masters degree in Human Resource Management (HRM). The degree takes a strategic view of HRM which links an organisation’s strategic goals and objectives to the management of its human resources. Coursework proceeds from strategic overviews of the operating environment through HR planning, staffing, training and development, performance management, remuneration, and a specialised unit covering occupational health and safety, drugs and alcohol in the work place and counselling.

Master of Human Resource Management

The Master of Human Resource Management will enable you to gain a critical appreciation of the role and practice of human resource management in local and global business, including organisational strategy, knowledge of contemporary theories in the human resource field, and development of human resource manager practitioner skills. The program covers all areas of human resource management, including strategy and HR, recruitment, training and development, performance management, cross-cultural and diversity management, globalisation and change management.

Students from the Master of Human Resource Management program will be considered for entry into the Master of Human Resource Management with Honours program upon application to the Program Director. For applications to be successful, students must have successfully completed at least four of the core courses within the Master of Human Resource Management program, including 7001GBS [Research Design and Methods], and have attained a minimum GPA of 5.5 (using a 7.0 scale) across these four courses including 7001GBS [Research Design and Methods].

Students who have successfully completed 40CP of foundation or core courses from one of the four specialisations may may be eligible for the Graduate Certificate in Human Resource Management.

Attendance
The Master of Human Resource Management is offered full-time and part-time on campus at the Nathan and Gold Coast campus. You may choose to study courses at other campuses if or where the program structure allows.

As a full-time student, you will generally attend 9-12 hours of scheduled classes per week throughout the semester.

As a part-time student, you will generally attend 3-6 hours of scheduled classes per week.

Classes may be scheduled during the day and evening throughout the week. Sufficient classes will be scheduled from 5 p.m. to accommodate part-time students unavailable to attend classes during the day.

You will be classed as a part-time student if you are enrolled in less than 30 credit points per semester. International students must maintain a full-time study load.

Work-integrated learning: Work-integrated learning activities integrate theoretical learning with its application in the workplace. The inclusion of work-integrated learning activities in the degree program demonstrates Griffith ’s commitment to preparing its graduates for success in their working life. In this program you may choose to spend 1 semester engaged with workplace/professional issues through a casework/project-based placement .

Career opportunities
Graduates will have a critical appreciation of the role of human resource management in global business and organisational strategy and knowledge of contemporary theories in the human resource field. They also have personal and professional competencies relevant to ethical practice in a complex environment.
