Textiles & Fashion Merchandising (Certificate)

For people who want to learn and apply a range of business and creative skills to merchandise and market fashion and textile related products. The technical, business and practical design skills will prepare a person for employment in marketing, supply chain and account management roles within the fashion and textiles industry.

This course aims to provide participants with knowledge and skills to design and implement window and in-store displays for retail stores. You will learn how to combine your creativity and artistic flair with technical know-how to set up displays that maximize the space of the store while effectively catching the eye and appealing t to the senses of their target customers. Their mail goals are: (1) create and maintain an image for a department or store that resonates with their target customers, (2) increase customer traffic in the store, and (3) guide their customers browsing through merchandise placement and store layout to result in an eventual sale.

This course is for people who want to work in the visual merchandising industry. You will learn how to plan, present and maintain an organisation’s image, and provide service and merchandise to potential customers. This involves the preparation of layouts, fixtures and fittings, the design and presentation of in store or window merchandise displays, and the production and installation of exhibitions and major display projects.

You will learn about working safely in teams, working in a small business environment, and liaising with marketing personnel and external organisations such as manufacturers, suppliers and tradespeople. You will also assist in the design, organisation and implementation of seasonal or special promotions such as product launches or special events.

This program is for people who want to work in the visual merchandising industry at entry level.

You will learn to apply creative skills with an ability to visualise ideas and concepts, and to communicate these effectively.

These skills will enable you to:

- Produce retail visual illustrations
- Create, manipulate and incorporate 2D graphics
- Demonstrate merchandising and category presentation skills in order to promote an organisation’s image, services and merchandise to customers.

You will be self-motivated, energetic, resourceful and able to work safely as part of a team to perform merchandising and the arrangement of product presentations for dressing of windows, showcases and museum cases. You will also assist in the design, organisation and implementation of seasonal or special promotions such as product launches or special events.
