Nursing Administration (Master Degree)

This online Master of Science in Nursing degree with a concentration in Nursing Administration prepares nurses to be leaders and administrators in a variety of health care settings. The program requires students to take courses both in the School of Nursing and the John F. Donahue Graduate School of Business, providing students the opportunity to enhance their potential as nurse administrators. The nursing courses in this program are offered online.

This program is based upon and consistent with the mission and philosophy of Duquesne University. The Master of Science in Nursing degree requirements can be completed on a full-time (6 credits per semester) or part-time basis. After being accepted for admission to the MSN program, each student is assigned a faculty advisor who will assist the student in completion of a Program Plan. Students have up to six years to complete the program.

The Duquesne faculty is committed to nurturing a flexible and creative scholarly environment that encourages students to participate actively in scientific inquiry and research.

This major prepares graduates with academic and clinical expertise for management positions in Nursing Administration. Clinical practicums are planned in a variety of acute care and non-hospital settings to gain preparation in the management of resources, staff and health care of groups of individuals. Courses in this major build upon a foundation in nursing and management.

Preparation in this area addresses the diversity of traditional and emerging roles in an evolving health care delivery system. Students may choose between the thesis or non-thesis options. Graduate electives are available through the College of Business for the non-thesis option.
