PMI - PMP / CAPM Examination Preparation

PMP and CAPM are internationally recognized project management qualifications. For the employer it means that all of the project managers are trained to a standard, high level of competence where they will be able to apply the knowledge gained to their work.

To be eligible to sit the PMP examination, candidates must meet specific educational requirements by holding a High School Diploma, or equivalent, as a minimum, and must already have completed 35 hours of Project Management education (The Kennedy Ryder PMP & CAPM Examination Preparation course is included in the 35 hours). Delegates must also have a level of project management experience equaling 7,500 hours in a position of responsibility leading and directing specific tasks (which are defined in the PMP examination specifications, as part of at least 60 months of Project Management experience. You must also agree to follow a code of professional conduct.

The CAPM pre-examination requirements are not as difficult as those for the PMP examination. However, the syllabus is the same as for PMP. The examination for CAPM is shorter and has fewer questions than that for the internationally recognized PMP qualification.

Kennedy Ryder’s experience is that most project managers who aspire to gain PMP or CAPM status have already undertaken sufficient project management education (35 hours) to meet the PMI’s application standard. We find that most project managers require to review, revise and undertake mock examinations and spend time on areas of weakness. For these reasons, the Kennedy Ryder PMP / CAPM course lasts 3 days. At the end of each session the attendees sit a mock examination on that topic and at the end of the course delegates will sit a rigorous multiple-choice mock examination. The actual computer-based PMP / CAPM exam does not take place at the end of the course.

The PMP or CAPM exam is booked by the candidates through the PMI and is held at local centres around the world. These include Malaysia, Switzerland, Ireland and the UK. The PMP / CAPM exam may be taken in languages other than English (e.g. simplified Chinese, French, and German) and this is made clear when booking the PMP / CAPM exam through the PMI.

The 3-day PMP / CAPM course is designed to help delegates prepare for the PMP and CAPM examinations. Therefore it covers the application the PMI Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBoK) in 6 domains:

initiating the project,
planning the project,
executing the project,
monitoring and controlling the project,
closing the project,
and professional and social responsibility.

It also gives an insight into the PMI PMBOK (Project Management Body Of Knowledge) and how it is used to improve any organization´s project management success.
