The Canadian Payroll Association (CPA) is the national association representing the payroll community in Canada . The CPA’s mission is Payroll Leadership through Advocacy and Education. The Canadian Payroll Association (CPA) has registered more than 25,000 students in their Payroll Management Certificate Program (PMCP). Professional certification at one or more levels of the PMCP is a prerequisite for employment and career advancement in payroll by an increasing number of employers. This program helps payroll professionals avoid substantial penalties for non-compliance with government rules and regulations and other costly administrative errors.

The Canadian Payroll Association’s Certified Payroll Management Program (CPM) is recognized nationally as the standard of excellence for payroll training and is frequently a prerequisite for employment in many organizations.
The CPA awards two levels of certification - Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) program 08571, and Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) program 08581, upon successful completion of compulsory and elective courses.
The graduate of the CPM certification should be able to: analyze payroll issues in depth; make decisions, supervise and manage; do legislative monitoring; demonstrate expert knowledge of payroll practices; and contribute a payroll perspective to organizational policy and strategy discussions.
