Pharmacy Assistant This comprehensive program prepares individuals to achieve competency in the skills and theoretical knowledge necessary to enter the Pharmacy environment as a Pharmacy Assistant. Emphasizing a customer-centered approach, this program also helps develop the proper attitude and sense of responsibility necessary for success in the progressive field of Pharmacy. Emphasis is placed on basic pharmacology knowledge and skills including medical preparations, drug classifications, reactions, adverse effects, and pharmacopoeia.
A Pharmacy Assistant needs a wide range of skills, from an extensive scientific knowledge about the design, production, reactions and uses of medicines to the ability to communicate effectively with Pharmacists, customers, patients and doctors.
In our Pharmacy Assistant Program students will learn about working in fast-paced environment and acquire the necessary skills in record keeping, calculating, and knowledge of medicines. Your will become competent in performing all the typical duties of a Pharmacy Assistant, including preparing medication for dispensing; compounding pharmaceuticals; preparing aseptic products; inventory control; purchasing; merchandising; record keeping as required under such acts as the Food and Drug Act; narcotics control; third party billing; drug distribution; repacking pharmaceuticals; computer processing; and clerical and other duties as necessary.
