This course covers basic fundamental vocabulary, structure of Russian, and the sound system, understanding, speaking, reading and writing in Russian. Tapes are used to aid pronunciation. The culture of the Russian -speaking people is studied. It also covers answering questions on comprehension of simple texts, simple descriptions from day-to- day life situations, stimulated dialogues and role-playing.
After the completion of the course the student is able to:
Ø Comprehend the spoken language from vocabulary used in text.
Ø Read and understand the language from material of this level.
Ø Recognize correct sound patterns.
Ø Write exercises on correcting grammatical items studied.
Ø Know the cultural elements of Russian societies.
Ø Be able to carry on a conversation within the framework of the vocabulary studied
Duration: Two and half months.
