Photography is an art of writing with light. As a painter use colour for making paintings with the help of brush, similarly, a photographer use light as colour and camera as brush to create a photograph. As every field requires dedication, devotion & hard work to excel in the required field, Photography also requires the same, as it also involves creativity, hard work & requires initiative to learn & understand more. Photography is a field which has a bright scope & one can earn good remuneration after excelling in this field. Photography means capturing a movement & get paid for that. Wildlife, photo journalism, fashion, glamour, product & many more are the categories of photography. One can choose wither one or all forms of photography according to the interest & requirement. It’s an art which is not restricted by age. Some start learning photography after their retirement & some become photographers from a very young age, let’s say 10 years old! After learning the photography course from R. K. Films & Media Academy, New Delhi (India), one can work as a freelance or may get employed/ work as a professional photographer magazines, newspapers, fashion houses, production studios & photography studios, etc. For getting started one requires a camera body & a lens. R. K. The curriculum is so designed keeping in view the needs of starter & an intermediate level photographer full of practical exposure & a balance of photography theory.

For becoming a successful photographer, one has to understand all the techniques required for creating a valuable photograph. Now-a-days digital cameras are mostly in use by all the leading photographers. Still digital photography offers a good career option. Newspapers, magazines & books make extensive use of still photography techniques. Good photographers having creative abilities & a flair for photography, are in demand for covering events & other occasions like sports, fairs, games, stage & fashion shows public meetings, exhibitions & feature film shootings, etc. Jobs & freelance work, as a photographer, is found in abundance & may also include traveling to various parts of the cities, states & even different countries. So the work of photographer is not limited to the cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Pune, etc or states like Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, etc. High-end photographs are required for marketing consumer goods, industrial products, fashion promotion, beauty product promotion, etc.

In the photography course offered at RKFMA, students will learn how to operate & use 35mm SLR camera which is used as the main workhorse by most of the professional photographers.

Course Duration: 3 Months

Classes & Training pattern: Three classes of 3 hours on alternate days pattern every week
Class / Batch size: 4 students per class batch
Eligibility: 14 years of age with basic knowledge Computers

The course consists primarily of workshop exercises and assignments with lectures and demonstrations for content delivery and guidance.

A videographer is responsible for composing each frame in a scene to be shot and deciding the lighting and camera angles according to the requirements of the director in Television production. As a videographer , you will lead the camera/lighting team for television shoot.

This course blends traditional filmmaking techniques with the latest digital video and film cinematography. We use the Panasonic SDX-900, the Sony DSR-500 DVCam, and the DXC-30WS cameras for regular projects.

There are screenings, lectures, and demonstrations to help you understand creative possibilities as you develop an eye for aesthetics. Cinematic possibilities of advanced digital video will be explored. Students will experiment with the creative use of television lighting for talk show, serial. They will learn how to use the built-in menus of a video camera to control hue, density, and contrast while using lighting equipment and light meters to control image quality.

Students will use filters to create dramatic scenes in the studio and on location. Afternoons and evenings will be spent on location and in the studio under demanding professional conditions, testing theory, and gaining practical experience in various lighting situations.

Shooting studios will be hired to explore all the possibilities. Variety of lighting styles, like source lighting, mood lighting, stylization, glamour will be demonstrated through practical situations in the studio. These workshops will give the students confidence and technical fineness required to shoot any professional cinematography assignment in the film and television industry.
After completing the course, the students can easily seek employment with television station where they can command anywhere between Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 35,000 per month.

In recent times, Professional Digital Photography has made giant strides, both in terms of hardware and software. A Student of Photography today, can see the image instantly after the shot is taken and is able to fine tune it immediately. As a result, the learning curve has become steeper.

The course is based on a holistic, ’hands-on’ approach to Professional Photography. Teaching methodology includes lectures, slide shows (work done by faculty as well as images from around the world), demos, field trips, assignments, web research and critique sessions.

Career Possibilities As trained professionals, Photographers passing out of the CRAFT will have a variety of career and job opportunities . Broadly, Photographers can choose one of two categories - employment or a freelance career.

Employment opportunities exist in several fields as: Art Director/Creative Director in an Advertising Agency, Photojournalist for newspapers/magazines, Still Photographer for movie production companies, Technical Photographer in research organisations, Law enforcement/Forensic/Surveillance Photographer in Police or Defence Services, Photography Teacher in Art Institutes or Visual/Mass Communication Colleges, Lab Technician in a colour lab, Digital Post-production Artist in pre-press houses/advertising agencies. etc. Other options include starting a Digital Colour Lab for amateur/professional film processing and printing, Digital Post Production Studio, etc.

Still photography Course aims to spread the knowledge of photography and its nuances to students, hobbyists, amateur photographers, freelance photographers and all photography lovers, through devoted teaching, detailed practical training, real time assignments and counseling. This program enables students to develop their skills and knowledge across a range of photographic techniques. It has particular value in developing those skills associated with producing record and reference images, which students may wish to use as a primary source for their own work and research.
