Business Valuation and Financial Analysis

This program provides an overview and practical applications of different valuation methods. In particular it focuses on:

the background research crucial to all valuations including global and domestic socio �economic analysis, industry analysis and accounting analysis

the inherent technical difficulties associated with the different valuation models.

The technical part of the program will contract the popular discounted cash flow method with the ’new kid on the block’ discounted residual income valuation model. Case studies featured throughout the three days will be based on actual companies.

This nationally recognised course is for people who want to acquire the necessary skills, knowledge and attitudes needed to practise as a registered real estate valuer in NSW covering varying property types.

The course provides the essential core competencies to equip you with the skills to value residential, commercial and industrial properties.

There are also additional elective competencies you may choose in: business management, specialised valuation (eg goods, plant and equipment), business valuation and rural property.

To value real estate in NSW you are required to be registered. This course is recognised by the NSW Office of Fair Trading for registration purposes under the Valuers Act, 2003.

At Sydney Institute the course is recognised by the Australian Property Institute (API) for membership.

Real estate valuers are required to undertake the appraisal and assessment of improved and unimproved property for various purposes including market value, sale and purchase, mortgage, family law, compensation purposes etc. There are also specialised valuers engaged in the appraisal of businesses, plant and equipment etc.

Functions include researching market data and property information, inspecting property, interpreting maps, plans and town planning information, surveying information, construction and building processes, analysing information, communicating with clients, report writing and computer skills to develop valuation/appraisal reports etc.

You will learn to screen for and assess hearing impairment, and to take appropriate action based on the results of your testing. Such actions could include referral for further audiological or medical assessment, and the prescribing and dispensing of hearing aids and other assistive devices that can assist in hearing rehabilitation excluding cochlear implants and bone anchored hearing aids. Actions could also include working with clients and their carers in hearing health education programs to maximise the participation of hearing impaired people in aspects of personal and community activities that are part of their personal need or aspiration.

You will also learn how to contribute to work effectiveness in health care settings by acquiring skills in infection control, occupational health and safety, and how to work independently, and as part of a broader hearing health team. In your preparation for work you will also develop awareness of the need to maintain confidentiality, and in other ways work within ethical frameworks that underpin audiometry practice.
