This is a revalidation course for holders of an Australian Certificate of Competency (Engineer) who wish to have their Certificate of Competency renewed to STCW95. This course complies with the requirements of Marine Orders Part 3, Appendix 3 (Seagoing Qualifications), and is approved by AMSA.

Successful completion requires 100% attendance. This course meets the requirements of STCW95 and is AMSA approved.

Students are advised that they must attend and participate in all of the components of training. Any student believing they may have grounds for exemption for any component of the course must have the exemption approved by AMSA prior to commencement of training.

Diploma Of Transport & Distribution (Marine Engineering - Engineer Watchkeeper)

The Watchkeeper program provides students with the basic skills and knowledge required to maintain and operate marine engines, machinery and systems as well as theoretical knowledge required by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) for the position of Marine Engineer Watchkeeper on board vessels with a propulsive power of 750kW or more, operating in Australian coastal and international voyages. Successful completion of this qualification and the required sea time plus the AMSA oral examination, enables students to obtain the AMSA certificate.

This qualification is aligned to the educational requirement for certification as a Engineer Watchkeeper as described in Marine Orders Part 3: Seagoing Qualifications (Version 6) under the Navigation Act 1912. It meets the requirements of the IMO STCW 95 Code- Seafarers Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for the issue of a Certificate of Competency by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority.

This qualification will provide you with the practical skills and knowledge to provide advice and sell boat charter services to customers depending on the subjects you choose. You will learn about tourism, hospitality, customer service and safety requirements in a marine environment. You can also choose to learn skills in using hand tools, planning and preparing boat trips and water testing engines.
