Relational Database

Course Format: On-Site / In-House / Private Tutoring
School/Trainer: Hands On Technology Transfer, Inc.
  V

This relational database design class develops relational database design skills and techniques. Practical methodologies such as E-R diagrams and normalization forms are emphasized. Attention is placed on designing for data integrity and efficiency at the same time. During hands on lab sessions students are required to design multiple database models from business requirements and specifications. Through hands on experience using SQL programming code to create, populate and manage relational tables, students will experience the necessity of proper design methods and gain an in depth understanding of the link between design, creation, and utilization. The impact of alternative designs on maintainability and database performance is emphasized.

Students Will Learn:

Building a Logical Data Model
Entity-Relationship Diagrams
Data Normalization Forms
SQL Statement Syntax

Manipulating Query Results
Designing for Performance
Table Indexing

Relational Database Design: A Practical Approach (Certificate) (Diploma) (Master Degree)

Course Format: On-Site / In-House / Private Tutoring
School/Trainer: Wintrac Inc.

Students will learn the general principles involved in designing a database that complies with the relational database model.

FileMaker Pro 5.5: Relational Databases (Windows) (Certificate) (Diploma) (Master Degree)

Course Format: On-Site / In-House / Private Tutoring
School/Trainer: Wintrac Inc.

In this course, you will learn powerful techniques for developing complex database systems containing multiple linked database files. You will learn about the various relationship types, link databases together, use field formatting options, and will create buttons and scripts to create a system that is ultimately easy and efficient for an end user to work with.

Relational Database Design (Second Edition) (Certificate) (Diploma) (Master Degree)

Course Format: On-Site / In-House / Private Tutoring
School/Trainer: Wintrac Inc.

For many new or intermediate database developers, it’,s difficult to know where to start when designing a relational database. It’,s easy to make the mistake of assuming that the functionality of a database will take shape over time, or the design will fall into place as you build the database. This course covers the steps to effectively plan and design functional, efficient databases.

Relational Database Design Concepts

Course Format: On-Site / In-House / Private Tutoring
School/Trainer: QuickStart Intelligence

This course presents a practical approach to relational database design. Numerous exercises and case studies illustrate the use of data modeling to produce an efficient and maintainable database design. Students will become familiar with creating entity-relationship diagrams, data normalization, and converting a logical data model to a physical database design.
Upon course completion students will have an understanding of how to document, implement, and maintain an effective database design.

For many new or intermediate database developers, it’s difficult to know where to start when designing a relational database. It’s easy to make the mistake of assuming that the functionality of a database will take shape over time, or the design will fall into place as you build the database. This course covers the steps to effectively plan and design functional, efficient databases.

Course Objective: You will plan a relational database so that you have a database that is efficient and easy to maintain.

Target Student: Individuals who already use relational databases, and have a need to design or modify the design of tables to be used in a relational database management system. They know the basics of how to use a relational database, but do not know how to design a database.

Prerequisites: Before taking this course, you should have a basic understanding of your computer’s operating system. For example, you should know how to launch an application, create and save files, and copy files from CD and other media. You should have some familiarity with data tables and basic knowledge of how to create queries in Microsoft Access.

To ensure your success, we also recommend you first take Access 2002: Levels 1 and 2.

Delivery Method: Instructor led, group-paced, classroom-delivery learning model with structured hands-on activities.
