The purpose of the Court Reporting Institute of Online Certified Shorthand Reporter course has been designed to properly prepare students for employment as a Certified Shorthand Reporter. This course will train students to improve shorthand skills to 225 words per minute. The dictation practiced will consist of literary, jury charge, multi-voice testimony, medical/technical dictation, as well as current events. A graduate of the Certified Shorthand Reporter program may seek employment as an official court reporter, stenographer, freelance or deposition reporter, or as a captioner.

About the Course:

This course will provide training toward the development of machine shorthand skill to 225 words per minute. Dictation will consist of literary, jury charge, multi-voice testimony, medical/technical dictation, and current events. Emphasis is placed on preparation for the CSR and RPR exams. Readback is part of the class. Accurate transcription, including correct format of court proceedings, is stressed.
