The program is a one-year, full-time course of study in advanced legal topics designed primarily for lawyers trained outside the United States. Students select courses from an extensive curriculum of specialized courses and seminars at Penn Law. Penn Law grants a generalized LLM that allows each student to design his or her own curriculum and, in doing so, may choose to focus on a particular topic. LLM students take courses alongside our upper level JD students and are with us for ten months including the five week summer program.

Penn Law LLM students are also eligible to enroll in the Wharton Business and Law Certificate, a custom designed program for Penn Law LLM students taught by Wharton faculty and industry experts selected for their teaching skills, subject expertise and ability to offer applied concepts and examples to participants. LLM in Transnational Law (Master Degree)

Advances in telecommunications and transportation have created a demand for lawyers who can practice in a global environment. Multinational corporations have become the rule, rather than the exception, and the practice of law is no longer limited by national borders. Moreover, many of the most rapidly expanding areas of practice including the law of cyberspace, intellectual property and environmental law are inherently transnational. For all of these reasons, Temple&,#146,s faculty designed the Transnational Law curriculum to ensure that our graduates will have the skills and knowledge to compete successfully in the twenty-first century. Our graduates will be knowledgeable about international legal doctrines, adept at dealing with multiple legal systems, and familiar with other cultures.

Transnational Law LL.M. candidates must complete the three-credit International Law survey course plus 24 credits of elective international and comparative law courses, including at least one course in which a scholarly paper is produced. Each year, new and experienced lawyers choose the Graduate Tax Program at Temple University Beasley School of Law to deepen their understanding of complex taxation issues. Since 1973, Temple&,#146,s internationally renowned Tax Program has offered a Master of Laws in Taxation that provides candidates with a strong foundation in tax law as well as an opportunity to develop expertise beyond the level of study offered in J.D. programs. In addition, the program offers certificate programs in Estate Planning and in the Taxation of Employee Benefits. These certificate programs allow students to gain expertise in specific areas of interest without having to complete all of the LL.M. requirements.

An LLM degree candidate must satisfactorily complete 24 credit hours of course work (including the 12 credit curriculum requirements listed below and a writing seminar) and maintain a 2.5 cumulative average to obtain the Master of Laws in Taxation. Course work must be completed within four years of initial enrollment.

description. Cooley’s Graduate Intellectual Property law Program prepares practitioners to launch their
career as an iP lawyer, or to focus an existing practice on intellectual property law.

Alabama’s LLM in Taxation Program is one of the most innovative in the country. Though the use of online technology, it bridges the gap between traditional distance education and live classroom instruction. The Graduate Tax Program leads to the LLM in Taxation upon the completion of 24 semester hours of graduate course work. The course of study allows for completion of the degree in six semesters, covering two calendar years.

Medical Law and Ethics LLM

This course offers 30 credit modules in Issues Relating to the Termination of Life, Issues Relating to the Creation and Saving of Life, and Mental Health Law, and 15 credit modules in Consent and Incompetent Patients, Clinical Malpractice I, Clinical Malpractice II, Philosophy of Health Care Law, and Medical Research. You must select at least one 30 credit module from the above list, but may choose your remaining options from the full range of modules available across all the LLM courses. The LLM is studied by distance learning (normally taking two and a quarter years in total to complete), although an accelerated route (15 months) is available. The distance learning mode involves attendance at Leicester De Montfort Law School for a maximum of nine Saturday Schools during the period of study. The LLM degree is structured in a way that allows you to exit the course at several points if desired, each with a postgraduate award.
