Course Description:
'' This is a practical course where delegates will investigate forensic case studies, applying the principles, knowledge and techniques learnt during the course. An optional examination is held on the final day. Successfully completing this examination contributes towards the Certified Forensic Investigation Analyst (CFIA) qualification being awarded.
The 1.5 hour CFIA examination is included and marked at the conclusion of this course. The pass mark is 50%, with marks between 65 and 80% attracting a merit grade and marks over 80% achieving distinction. Written assignments are set and marked by the University of Glamorgan, and are based on the content of the CFIA Forensic Artefacts: Hands-On course. Candidates will have two months in which to complete this assignment. The pass mark is 40%. Marks between 50 and 69% attract a merit grade and marks over 70% achieve distinction.
Prerequisites Sound experience with Microsoft Windows required. Basic understanding of TCP/IP networking concepts required. General appreciation of forensic principles, practices and software is
advantageous but not essential.
Those with an interest in or responsibility for computer forensic investigation, including Forensic & Network Investigators, Information Security Professionals, IT Security Officers, Law Enforcement Officials, Computer Auditors and Crime Prevention Officers would benefit from this course.
