'' Most Mac OS X users don’t need, and never see, the UNIX side of Leopard, but support staff and
administrators can use the UNIX command line environment to: save time; streamline and automate
frequently-performed tasks; and access features and options that are not available in the GUI
(Graphic User Interface).
PREREQUISITES: This course assumes that you are familiar with using personal computers and have
used a mouse and keyboard (basic typing skills are recommended). Specifically, you should be able
to launch and close programs; navigate to information stored on the computer; and manage files and
folders.
Who Should Attend: Advanced Mac OS X users, Support/Help Desk staff and System
Administrators will all benefit from an understanding of UNIX. Skills apply directly to Mac OS X and
transfer directly to any other UNIX based system. Administrators should take this to provide a foundation
to more advanced topics such as script reading and debugging, and shell programming (writing scripts). ...''
