Period A deals with language elements and their practice.
Period B targets language usage through discussion of video, audio and written materials.
Skills Studies Students build their Integrated Studies with 1 or 2 courses in Periods C and D. Each course has a specialized language goal. Subjects have been carefully chosen to provide you with a range of topics suitable to your ability and interests. Topics are offered at four levels on a rotational basis. As a Skills Studies option, students may choose computer-assisted language study in the Student Resource Centre during Period C/D.
Period E, at the end of the day, offers all students the time to work independently in the Student Resource Centre or to take PLUS lessons which are customized to their needs and goals.
20 Lessons per week = Periods A + B For these Periods, we use an integrated approach to language learning, with speaking, listening, reading and writing activities. Periods A and B are normally be taught by one teacher to allow students to progress at a more rapid pace.
25 lessons per week = Periods A + B + C This programme adds skill development courses in Period C to the Integrated Studies in Periods A and B.
Courses in Period C give students more opportunity to develop and practise their skills.

First Day of School at LSC It is easy to travel to any LSC school by public transit. You should allow yourself plenty of time on your first day to arrive at school. We ask you to bring along your passport, LSC Letter of Acceptance, student authorization (visa) and funds for payment of any outstanding fees.
First Day begins at 08:30.
On First day, you will have an evaluation, registration, information session about school services and a guided walking tour of the school surroundings. The evaluation is comprised of a written and an oral test.
It takes approximately 3 to 4 hours to complete all the steps of registration on the first day. In the months of July through September, it may take longer.
25 Lessons and 30 Lessons students begin class at 14:10 on first day.
20 Lessons students begin class at 09:00 on the next day.
Levels and Advancement Upon arrival at LSC, you are evaluated in both a written and oral form. Based on the evaluation results, you are placed in a level which best corresponds to your needs and abilities.
Each level takes 4 to 8 weeks to complete.
On the Friday prior to the next major start date, all students meet with their teacher for consultation on their progress. Continuing students advance to a higher level if they have obtained 70% on their overall performance in class. Performance is judged on use of language skills and on weekly test results.
Attendance Policy You must attend class every day. Teachers take attendance at each class. Advancement to the next level is based, in part, upon language skills improvement in class. You must attend class regularly in order for the teachers to effectively judge your improvement. A minimum of 80% attendance is required to progress to the next level.
