Course Description:

'' What is a "scene"? What is a "character arc"? What is "backstory" and why is it so important to the screenwriting process? Why is structrue paramount in screenwriting unlike other writing genres. Screenwriting calls for an understanding of storytelling and a strong sense of the visual. This workshop, taught by a working professional, zeroes in on the fundamentals of developing a concept into a storyline and then into screenplay format. Students are given exercises in and out of class to develop an idea into a scene. At the end of these sessions, students should be well into producing a workable, professional-looking screenplay based on terms and techniques employed by screenwriters everywhere. ...''
