'' Targeted at executives, this session covers the strategic and operational aspects of results-based management in the Alberta public service. Participants will review a results-orientated approach as a tool for motivating and communicating with staff about high-level issues within their department. The session will also emphasize the strategic importance of results reporting as the foundation of accountability between government and citizens. As well, participants will examine their operational role in ensuring results reporting and results management are technically sound.
Content Through case studies, discussions, appearances by guest speakers, and modules delivered by the facilitator, the session will focus on:
Leadership
The “tone from the top�determines how well a results-orientation culture will be embedded within a department.
What Are “Results�Anyway?
Often taken for granted, the concept of “results�is examined and illustrated.
The Link with Accountability
When does accountability for results work well? When does it fail? A simple diagnostic tool is introduced.
