Training Course:Planning the Project - Techniques WorkshopSchool/Trainer:University of Alberta School of Business Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
Course Format: Classroom | E-learning | Virtual Class | Online | On-site | Blended | Self-paced
Course Description:
'' The techniques of developing a plan are often where project managers struggle. The desire for certainty must be balanced against the unpredictability of how projects will unfold. There is a firm desire on the part of project managers to accurately commit to estimates, and often a strong level of accountability created by the organizations we work for.
How we manage risk is equally important. Research has demonstrated that risk management is one of the single most important considerations in successful project management. By being able to anticipate and respond to potential challenges, we are able to proactively respond even to those circumstances where there is a level of uncertainty.
Participants will review the effective approaches to estimation and risk management, as well as considerations in contracting and procurement management. The workshop will:
Introduce the use of estimation techniques such as Monte Carlo simulation in supporting the estimation process Explore the advantages of using empirical data as an input to effective project estimating Demonstrate advanced techniques in identifying, assessing and planning for risk Explore the relationship between contract management and project management Help to understand how to effectively contract for services or enter into contracts for the delivery of project work ...''
