'' Software Engineering applies the principles of computer science and mathematics to achieving cost-effective solutions to software problems. It is the technological and managerial discipline that focuses on a systematic production and maintenance of software products. The study of software engineering covers not only the technical aspects of building software systems, but also management issues, such as directing programming teams, scheduling, and aligning information technology with organized strategies.
The Graduate Certificate in Software Engineering provides students with graduate-level knowledge of current trends in modern programming languages, software development, and project management. The 5-course, 15-credit graduate program (three core courses, one programming course and one elective) can serve as a stand-alone credential. It may also be used to fulfill part of the requirements for the Master of Software Engineering degree (following acceptance into that program).
