Training Course:SpanishSchool/Trainer:The National Registration Center for Study Abroad Santo Domingo & Sosua, Dominican Republic
Course Format: Classroom | E-learning | Virtual Class | Online | On-site | Blended | Self-paced
Course Description:
'' specializes in teaching Spanish to travelers who desire to combine a language learning experience with an exciting, intercultural experience in the Dominican Republic. Founded in 1994 it has become one of the major institutions in the Dominican Republic to offer the instruction of Spanish as a foreign language.
The ambiance, with its cafeterias, gardens, and terraces, are ideal places to become acquainted with new friends, share experiences, plan activities, and practice Spanish. A goal of international study at the center is to facilitate intercultural exchange between foreign students and Dominican students who study English and German at the center. Learning a language in the context of an intercultural exchange is always more successful because the improvement of communicative skills is emphasized. It is considers essential to provide the proper setting to ensure that students learn Spanish by having direct contact with native speakers and using their newly acquired language skills.
The staff is composed of Europeans, Dominicans, South and North Americans. All teachers are native speakers, who in addition to being qualified, are widely experienced in the field of teaching Spanish as a foreign language. Teachers are not only expected to demonstrate high standard teaching skills, but also should be capable of empathizing with the students in order to motivate and stimulate them.
Students may elect to attend classes in either Santo Domingo for a metro-cultural experience or in Sosua for a small town, beach experience. A third option is to split the enrollment time between Santo Domingo and Sosua. Whether the participant decides to study in Santo Domingo or Sosua could depend on the selection of leisure time activities. If the participant wants to combine language studies with acquiring a deeper insight into the cultural and social aspects of Dominican everyday life, then Santo Domingo could be the best choice to make. When sports and nature are your primary interests, then the program in Sosua is recommended.
Sosua The beach town of Sosúa, located on the North coast just east of Puerto Plata, was originally settled by 600 Jewish refugees in the early 1940s. Although many of them left after World War II ended, some stayed and raised families in Sosúa. Their presence is noticeable in street names such as Calle David Stern and in the synagogue they built located on Calle Alejo Martínez. Sosúa is an easygoing town with open air bars, restaurants, discotheques, and a white sand beach.
The institute is located 5 minutes from the public beach in a beautifully remodeled building which contains both apartments and classrooms. ...''
