Course Description:
'' Mountain biking encourages the students to persevere, expand their comfort zones and put into practice caring for the environment. They will experience cycling amongst exquisite scenery without the dangers and noise of traffic.
Individuals are encouraged to play a part in deciding on a suitable route, assessing the risks involved and discussing effective group management. Selecting, caring for and maintaining the equipment will also be discussed and students can express their views and opinions. While participating in the activity, students will be encouraged to take turns leading the group and being the back marker, thus developing their leadership, listening and the helping of others skills.
They will have a qualified instructor who will teach them the necessary skills and techniques required for the terrain.
The mountain bikes and safety gear are regularly maintained and serviced. All the routes used are within the ability of the average child or young person visiting the Centre. There is a local purpose built downhill track (Laggan Wolftrax), which is available to the more experienced mountain biker. ...''
