Training Course:KayakingSchool/Trainer:Lagganlia Centre for Outdoor Education Kingussie, Inverness-shire, United Kingdom
Course Format: Classroom | E-learning | Virtual Class | Online | On-site | Blended | Self-paced
Course Description:
'' Kayaking encourages the students to have fun developing water confidence and experience being self reliant. They also have the opportunity to learn the water etiquette and see the local wildlife.
Before getting onto the water, students will be taught the general principles of lifting and moving the kayak safely, getting in and out of the kayak at shore, how to sit in the kayak, the basic use of the paddle and what to do in the event of a capsize.
Once on the water, games are used to learn the basic paddle strokes for forward paddling, turning and stopping. Some groups will then have the opportunity to do a short trip around the famous Osprey Island on Loch Insh.
It is not necessary for the students to be able to swim as they are equipped with buoyancy aids. In the event that the students are not water confident, there is a sheltered pond at the Centre where the students can feel safe to push their comfort zones.
The students will always be accompanied by a qualified instructor who will endeavour the make the activity memorable, fun and to create an environment where the students feel safe and free to express their concerns as well as their delights. ...''
