Course Description:
'' Orienteering is becoming a very popular sport. Your children or young person will have to opportunity to see just why this sport is so exhilarating. It encourages independent and logical thinking. Because the participants work in a pair or trio, they have the chance to work on their team work and listening skills. It is quite competitive which enables groups to shine thereby boosting their self confidence.
The participants are shown how to read the map and the rules of orienteering are explained. They are then given a change to search for the posts. Once the instructor feels they have grasped the concept, a competition is run and the winners are awarded a badge.
A qualified instructor instructs the students on the course boundaries, points of safety and the return signal. They are then given the freedom to run about unsupervised and the instructor will stay at base and periodically patrol the grounds. ...''
