'' One of the areas in which Knowledge Management is truly underdeveloped is in Measurement. In the Gateway Workshop, the three-tier model distinguishing KM, knowledge processing and operational business processing is heavily emphasized. In terms of that model, impact measurement in KM projects has focused on changes in operational business processes, measures of process attributes in Communities of Practice, measures of tool use and time saved where there are software interventions, and survey measures of satisfaction/dissatisfaction after KM interventions. Thus, very little has been done to measure attributes and dynamics of knowledge processing intervening between KM interventions, and effects on operational business processes and outcomes.

This workshop attacks this problem in two ways. First, it provides a framework of knowledge processing quality attributes in the form of a software template. And second it teaches you how to use the framework along with the Analytic Hierarchy Process, and Expert Choice Software to develop ratio-scaled measures of knowledge processing and outcome attributes using a team/panel approach.
