Course Description:
'' This course is designed to give students the opportunity to use several multimedia-authoring approaches as they develop their abilities to analyze and synthesize available research in a number of electronic and hard copy formats. After analyzing the available research on instructional design, current theories of learning, and the role of multimedia in learning, students will create instructional courseware using a minimum of two selected multimedia-authoring programs. This course provides students with first-hand experience in the methodologies of multimedia presentation development as they apply to classroom learning environments. The course also provides students an opportunity to utilize a variety of techniques and methods to develop effective and relevant multimedia learning activities.

Demonstrate a sound understanding of the terminology specific to the Internet. Identify the basic steps in creating a Web page using a Web authoring-software package. Evaluate a selected Web-authoring software package. Apply organizational strategies to name files and folders in creating a Web site. The Role of Multimedia in Learning
Analyze the effectiveness of multimedia in the classroom. Describe best practices in the use of multimedia in the classroom. Design Issues on the Web
Compare and contrast print and Web media. Describe basic design principles as they pertain to Web pages. Apply criteria to evaluate school Web sites. List the components of effective school Web sites. Creating Multimedia Materials Using Presentation Programs
Demonstrate advanced features of PowerPoint® by taking online tutorials. Create a multimedia presentation integrated with multiple types of data using the advanced features of a presentation tool. Color and Graphic Enhancements
Analyze the technology of color as it pertains to the Internet. Examine the terminology of graphic file formats. Locate sources of graphics, animations, sounds, and film clips that can be used in the Web page design process. Explain the process to prepare graphics for the World Wide Web. Educational Portals
