'' Information technology (IT) and information systems (IS) are no longer supporting structures in business—they are now core to how organizations operate on a day-to-day basis. This course is an introduction to how and why technology is used throughout the modern organization. The course uses the concept of Enterprise Relationship Management (ERM) as a way of understanding how technology is used within organizations to manage interactions with stakeholders—customers, partners and employees. ERM acknowledges the critical importance that information plays in an information-intensive networked economy. ERM can be divided into three primary categories: CRM (customer relationship management) for managing customers, PRM (partner relationship management) for managing business partners such as suppliers and distributors, and employee relationship management for managing the daily work activities of employees. Additional topics include fundamentals of computer systems, software development lifecycle, system and application software, protocols and standards, outsourcing, and the organization and management of IT and IS. ...''
