When developing the hospitality management emphasis within our business management program, we consulted industry professionals to find out what employers were looking for in job candidates. Our advisory board identified areas that are now incorporated as core requirements in the Bachelor’s in Business Management: Hospitality program. Much coursework for the program can be completed through our Online Business College.
Strong fundamental business training Before beginning studies in hospitality management, students complete 77 credits in fundamental business courses, including accounting, business administration, business communications, computer information systems, small business management, business law, operations management, leadership, business ethics and marketing. These fundamental requirements can be satisfied by completion of an Associate in Business Administration or Associate in Management Accounting degree.
Advanced courses in hospitality management In the third and fourth years, students complete Hospitality Management courses that address issues specific to the industry, including the hospitality organization, hospitality industry trends, domestic and global hospitality service strategies, casino and gaming operations, food service management and service marketing.
The capstone course: apply management principles in the workplace In a capstone externship course, students have the opportunity to apply their business management skills and knowledge of the hospitality industry under the supervision of a manager, providing them with valuable hands-on experience and professional networking relationships.
Students in the Business Management: Hospitality degree program also complete 55 credits in liberal arts electives, providing them with global perspectives and practice in critical and analytical problem solving.
